Some of these tips require changing daily habits but once you have made a commitment to fixing dry skin and protecting newly moisturized hands, you’ll see the extra work is well worth it.

  • Lotion
  • Gloves
  • Vaseline
  • Moisturizers

  • Apply hand lotion every time you wash your hands. The soap and towels dry your hands out when you wash them. By using a little hand lotion after washing, your hands will stop being dry and be moisturized instead. Keep lotion with you on the go as well.
  • Use Vaseline on your hands and then put on a pair of gloves before you go to sleep each night. The gloves help the Vaseline to be absorbed into your skin, curing dry skin problems.
  • Wear gloves anytime. Cold weather dries and cracks skin. By wearing gloves, you can prevent dry skin in the first place. If you already have dry hands, the gloves will protect them from getting worse.
  • Moisturize. Lotion and Vaseline are two ways to moisturize but you can also use hand oils, creams, moisturizing soaps, cocoa butter and jojoba butter. The biggest cause of dry hands is your skin not getting enough moisture. Fix dry hands with whichever type of moisturizer you prefer.
  • Exfoliate. Dead skin cells can be another cause of dry hands. A gentle exfoliating scrub a couple times a week also helps fix dry hands.
