 Homemade Hand Scrub

Hands need skin care to stay soft and healthy.
Exfoliating is an important part of skin care to remove dead skin cells, resulting in radiant, supple skin. Many people forget that their hands need just as much skin care as the rest of the body. Using a gentle homemade scrub to exfoliate your hands about once a week can keep them healthy, supple and youthful. You can mix up a homemade hand scrub just by using simple, natural materials found in your kitchen.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need
Mixing bowls and utensils
2 tbsp. oatmeal
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. flax seed oil
1 vitamin E oil capsule

Combine the oatmeal with room temperature water. Let the oatmeal stand for about 10 minutes until it is slightly softened and has absorbed some of the liquid.

Add the lemon juice and olive oil to oatmeal and water mixture. Mix well with a whisk. This creates a basic exfoliating hand scrub. If you want to mix in some anti-aging ingredients, throw in the flaxseed oil and the vitamin E oil as well.

Massage the mixture into your hands, over the top of your hands, your palms, in between your fingers, over your fingernails and around all your fingers. Let it soak in for about two minutes.

Rinse your hands off with cool water until clean. Pat dry.

Massage moisturizer into your hands and let it soak for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Store any extra homemade hand scrub in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
