 Homemade Remedies to Thicken Hair

Homemade remedies to thicken hair are a simple and cost efficient way to treat the problem of dry and brittle hair. Homemade remedies give hair instant volume and also serve as long term solutions. Natural treatments are much gentler on the scalp and prevent further damage to hair due to harsh chemicals.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a remedy used often to clarify the scalp to support healthy hair growth. Apple cider vinegar clears the scalp by removing any dead skin cells that may be clogging hair follicles and preventing healthy growth. When hair follicles are clogged with impurities, hair grows thin and dull.

Dilute 1 cup of apple cider vinegar into 1 1/2 cup of water and pour over the head. Massage into the scalp for 2 to 3 minutes and rinse. Shampoo and condition hair as usual.

Honey is a common treatment for thin brittle hair that needs a quick lift. This sticky substance may take some practice when applying, but it rinses easily in the shower. Honey is full of nutrients that give body and bounce to lifeless hair.

Apply honey to the entire length of hair and pin in a bun with a hair clip. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse. Shampoo and condition as usual.

If you have darker hair, you can achieve the same results by using molasses because honey will highlight hair over time.

Gelatin is a great way to instantly thicken hair. It coats each strand and gives hair volume after the first use. Always keep some extra packages of unflavored gelatin in the cabinet in case hair needs a quick lift. Pour one package of unflavored gelatin into your normal shampoo. Shake well and use as often as you wash hair. The gelatin shampoo will add texture to thin hair.
