Facial scrubs are soothing, exfoliating treatments for the skin. They are helpful for removing the top layer of dead skin cells from a person’s face. The result of a properly applied facial scrub is smooth, healthy-looking skin that glows. You can make your own facial scrubs from common, household ingredients like eggs and milk. Just make sure you don’t apply it too often; any more than once every two weeks may result in dry, red and irritated skin.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need
2 egg whites
Small glass bowl
Wire whisk
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup olive oil
Chickpea flour
Dried lavender flowers
Mortar and pestle
Plastic resealable container

Crack an egg in half carefully over a small glass bowl and retain both halves. Pour the egg from one shell half into the other over the glass dish, moving back and forth until only the egg yolk remains in the shell halves and the egg white is in the glass bowl below. Repeat for a second egg.

Beat the egg whites into a foamy mixture with a wire whisk. Add 1/4 cup each of honey, whole milk and olive oil to the egg whites. Beat the mixture together with a wire whisk until it is thoroughly combined.

Add chickpea flour, 2 tablespoons at a time, to the mixture slowly. Stir flour into mixture with a wooden spoon until the mixture reaches the consistency of a thick paste. Set aside.

Place 4 tablespoons of dried lavender flowers into a mortar. Grind the flowers into a powder with a pestle. Pour the powder into the facial scrub mixture. Stir the powder into the scrub thoroughly with a wooden spoon.

Pour your scrub mixture into a resealable plastic container.

Spread a layer of the scrub onto your face, gently rubbing it into your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Let the scrub sit on your face for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the scrub with a warm washcloth then rinse your face in cool, clear water.
