nose+makeup How to Shade Your Nose

Makeup has been used for thousands of years to both enhance facial features and downplay undesirable ones. Strategically applying makeup can help to change the appearance of noses of all sizes and shapes. Among the most sought after facial plastic surgery procedures are brow lifts and nose reshaping. However, such invasive and costly procedures can be avoided with a few simple makeup tips that will help you to contour and shape the appearance of your nose.

Things You’ll Need

  • Bronzer
  • Matte eyeshadow powder (shade darker than foundation)
  • Highlighter (shade lighter than foundation)

Instructions

Creating a slimmer nose

  • Apply the contouring shade, the dark eyeshadow powder or bronzer, to each side of your nose. Blend the contouring shade thoroughly along the sides.
  • Apply a thin line of highlighter down the center of your nose, from the top of the bridge to the tip.
  • Blend the highlighter thoroughly along the top surface of your nose to create a more defined bridge.

Creating a shortened nose

  • Apply and blend a small amount of dark eyeshadow on the area just under the tip of your nose.
  • Dot the upper tip of your nose with the highlighter.
  • Blend the highlighter thoroughly along the tip of your nose. The contrasting shades of the eyeshadow and the highlighter will create the look of a shortened nose.

Contouring a protruding nose

  • Apply small dabs of dark eyeshadow powder on the top sides of your nose. Do not shade the entire bridge of your nose with the dark eyeshadow.
  • Blend the eyeshadow powder thoroughly so that it creates a faint shadow along the sides of your nose.
  • Apply highlighter on the tip of your nose and blend thoroughly.

Creating a smaller nose

  • Shade the area under the tip of your nose with the darker eyeshadow powder, and apply the highlighter to the tip and sides of your nose.
  • Shade the area of both sides of your nose with the highlighter.
  • Blend each application thoroughly to make your nose look smaller.

Creating more prominent cheekbones

  • Apply a small amount of highlighter onto the apples of your cheeks.
  • Blend the highlighter thoroughly with your fingertips.
  • Apply blush under the highlighted area of your cheeks. This creates the illusion of more prominent cheekbones while softening the appearance of your nose.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to thoroughly blend the shades well to create a natural look.
  •  Highlighters and eyeshadows can be purchased in the beauty aisle of a local drugstore or at any department store’s cosmetics counter.
  •  Using makeup to create dramatic eyes and lips also helps to shade and contour the appearance of your nose.
